Itunes brings universities together

The Australian, 4 June 2008

Seven universities across Australia and New Zealand are trialling a partnership with Apple’s iTunes U, a ‘university’
section of the iTunes store that provides students with free lectures, language lessons and audiobooks direct to
their iPod, iPhone and computers.

Approximately 300 educational institutions around the world deliver free-to-download audio and visual files to date.
Joining them is the Australian National University, Griffith University, Otago University, Swinburne University of Technology, The University of Melbourne, The University of New South Wales and The University of Western Australia.

Professor Sue Spence, Griffith University’s Pro Vice-Chancellor (Learning and Student Outcomes), believes that
students will find the programme flexible for individual needs as ‘students increasingly become more mobile and seek
to combine their study with work, family and other commitments’.

The general public is also able to access the iTunes U educational service to download public lectures by university
staff, students and keynote speakers.

For further information, visit the iTunes U website. iTunes must be downloaded to access the educational files.
