Digital Revolution Delivers More Computers 29 January 2009 Sixty Victorian independent schools will receive funding for new computers in the second round of the National Secondary School Computer Fund. In total, 397 secondary schools in Victoria will receive funding – 268 government schools, 69 Catholic schools and 60 independent schools. The Minister for Education, Employment and Workplace Relations, Ms Julia Gillard announced on 28 January 2009 that Victorian schools will receive $44 million for 43,999 computers in round two, making a total of 64,128 computers provided by the fund. The government will cover costs incurred in installing and maintaining new computers purchased through the fund. The Chief Executive of the Association of Independent Schools of Victoria, Ms Michelle Green, welcomed Ms Gillard’s announcement that would enable independent schools to continue improving learning outcomes through information technology.
