Schools will be eligible to receive funding of up to $100,000 under the program if they had not previously received funding under the Smarter Schools National Partnerships, and if they performed both below the national average in all areas of the National Assessment Program – Literacy and Numeracy (NAPLAN) and below the average of statistically similar schools. Funding will be used for the creation of specialist centres to provide professional development for teachers and school leaders, for the provision of literacy and numeracy coaches and professional learning programs to support students, and for the establishment of partnerships between schools and community and support agencies to provide additional assistance to students.
