In a bid to begin implementing Labor policies, Prime Minister-elect, Mr Kevin Rudd, has asked his Labor MPs to visit
one government and one non-government school within their electorate.

Labor MPs are due to report their findings on schools’ computer needs when the Labor caucus meets in Canberra on Thursday this week. Mr Rudd said that he is ‘expecting members of the party to report back on what they have found
in their communities.’

According to The Age, Mr Rudd has also commissioned his first cabinet submission: ‘an implementation plan to buy computers for every student in years 9 to 12.’ The submission will the first item discussed by the new Rudd cabinet,
which is expected to meet next week.

The National Secondary School Computer Fund will be implemented into all government, independent and Catholic
schools.

Mr Rudd said that ‘we want the best government schools in the world and the best non-government schools in the
world — we want a world class education system while preserving parental choice’.
