Electronic speed signs for schools Media Release, The Hon John Brumby MLA, 8 November 2007
The Victorian Premier John Brumby has announced that the Victorian Government will allocate $13.6 million to install electronic speed signs near 200 schools across Victoria. ‘Since the introduction of school speed zones in 2003, there has been a 23 percent reduction in casualty crashes and Given the success of the programme, Premier Brumby stated that an additional 603 electronic signs would be installed near schools. The speed signs would switch on during school hours to show drivers when to comply with school speed limits. ‘Better signs mean better warning for motorists and I urge Victorian motorists to observe speed limit signs outside schools.
